SKIPPING STONES Vol VI is now available for $15 from Prince Books and Iris Art Studio.  $12.50 from me at readings.  *      *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     * We have opened the submission deadline for SKIPPING STONES Vol VII (2011) for another couple of months while we plan the progress and set a new deadline. Note Left Hand column the demonstrated format for submitted poems. Form, subject, length as the author writes. Submission fee of $5 for up to five poems. We can receive poems formatted in MS Word (.doc), Corel Word Perfect (.wpd), word pad (.rtf), or PDF (.pdf) files. Digital copy is essential (see note in the LH column). Art and Photography may be submitted in .jpg format with a $5 submission fee for up to 30 samples. I am sad to say that publishing costs no longer permit us to provide Authors' complementary copies. Nevertheless, each author/artist/photog in the book may claim his or her copy for $5 and unlimited additional copies at  $12.50; full retail in a bookstore $15. ** Submission includes implicit permission to publish your poem(s) on the website or in promotional material unless you specifically request it be confined to only the book.  You, the author, retain copyright in any case. ** Note on line lengths:  to fit within the margins, any line of text in your poem longer than 54 characters may cause the line break to abuse your poem and compell us to impose an arbitraty line break. Note:   I am featuring poems from various issues of SKIPPING STONES on the website to both promote the book and the website and to highlight and recognize the poets.  If you have appeared in a past edition of SS and you especially do not want your poem or poems to appear on the site, please let me know, and I will honor that.  Your work remains copyrighted and in your control.

* DIGITAL COPY IS ESSENTIAL. OCR scanning hard-copy text is tedious and unreliable; it requires very nearly retyping the entire text over again after MS reformats and changes the font and layout.  ONLY if you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT produce [or get someone else to produce for you] a digital copy of your work, I will accept hard-copy on clean unfolded white paper.  Print it out in clear, print sufficiently dark (600 dpi) that the scanner can read it without bifocals.
